Kuat Bike Rack and Swingaway / Disabling Beep
Kuat Bike Rack and Swingaway / Disabling Beep
Manual: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1430651/Kuat-Nv-2-0.html
The loud beeep sound when backing up due to the kuat swingwaway bike rack install.... Only way to disable is to disconnect the cable in the back. Wonder if a pin in that cable could be removed or something so I could reconnect but without getting a yellow triangle warning sign on dashboard or that loud beep sound.
Someone said you can disable it by adding a trailer brake light harness or a false one but I don't know how to do that.
Marila Alvares provided the best solution here: We have a 2018 also with a Kuat swing away rack and I just discovered how to make the backup alarm significantly quieter. While the van is in reverse and the alarm is going off, it says “Backup buzzer volume” on the dash. Pressing the “Mode” button to the left of the steering column brings up a number next to the buzzer volume, which allows you to use the toggle switch next to the mode button and decrease the volume. Even at zero, you can hear it, but it’s way less intolerable. We previously had unplugged the sensor wire, making the triangle warning light appear on the dash, which made us constantly worry, “is something actually wrong with the van or is it just the sensor being unplugged?” Hopefully this helps if you’re not able to find a way to silence it altogether.
